Yuem is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Earth & Planetary Science at UC Berkeley, working with Prof. Nicholas Swanson-Hysell. His research seeks to understand the connections between global cooling, tectonics, and weathering throughout the past 1 billion years. To answer related research questions, Yuem integrates geochemical and geophysical data from sedimentary rocks with statistical and modeling approaches. He is particularly interested in trying to better understand severe global glaciation ("Snowball Earth") events ~700 million years ago and prolonged global cooling over the past ~15 million years. Yuem does not run for fun.
